Nine Kettle Bridge Concertinas members entertained the Loose Valley Wives Group and successfully brightened up a wet and windy Wednesday evening in October.

The receptive audience listened to two sets of tunes: eight under the traditional and classical category and eight from shows and movies. The programme was varied, from Purcell’s Trumpet Tune, Unger’s Ashokan Farewell, and Early One Morning, to Bernstein’s The Great Escape, Arlen and Harburg’s Over the Rainbow and Lionel Bart’s Oom Pah Pah from Oliver. There were some singalong moments to be heard too!

Before the refreshments break, we welcomed questions from the audience. Sue explained how the concertina worked and how the group had evolved from the Kettle Bridge Clogs.

At the conclusion of the session, a member of Loose Wives thanked us for the enjoyable and entertaining evening.
