Kettle Bridge Concertinas have been very busy in the lead up to Christmas. Here are a few brief reports and pictures so that you can see what we have been up to.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!
A group of 12 Kettle Bridge players performed at the carols "singalong" in Teston Church on December 8th.
Christmas hats and tinsel were donned and the church felt very festive. It was a delight to play for a substantial gathering of good singers and for most, this was the first airing of carols for Christmas 2023. Playing and singing lasted for an hour, followed by refreshments and the essential mince pie!
We were in the all-too-familiar surroundings of East Farleigh WI hall which is our usual practice hall. On this occasion, the West Farleigh Evergreens were hosting their Christmas afternoon tea and singalong.
There was a lovely atmosphere with some extremely good singing and we were very kindly invited to the tea following the playing where we enjoyed an amazing selection of sandwiches and cakes. What was not to like about that afternoon!?
"The weather outside was frightful", but the warm welcome from the Coxheath over 60s group well and truly made up for it. Based in the Coxheath scouts’ hut, Kettle Bridge Concertinas played a variety of carols and Christmas songs and the hosts sang along heartily. During Rudolph some people were even seen doing the actions!
This was the final 2023 Christmas gig for Kettle Bridge Concertinas. Held on December 22nd and the evening billed as a "Christmas Soirée", we were a small but impactful group of players and singers. The singers were from Yalding’s Village Voices and KBC was pleased to collaborate with them for the evening, entertaining the diners at the Tickled Trout pub in West Farleigh.
