Concertina group based in Maidstone, Kent, UK
What a great charity this is and how happy Kettle Bridge Concertinas were to contribute to their May Fayre. Dandelion Time helps children and their families in need through nature and crafts on their farm-based site in West Farleigh.
We played for an hour at the start of the event and were followed by a ukulele band and then the Maidstone Rock Choir so there was music to suit every taste. Kettle Bridge played a great variety of tunes from musical classics, to folk, to pop and jazzy pieces. It's always a challenge to play outdoors because the weather presents us with issues; in the open air some of the sound gets lost so we have to pump up the volume; the rain is not the concertina's friend and the wind can blow the music off the stand. Thankfully, at the May Fayre it was dry and sunny and a pleasure to play, adding to the great atmosphere.
I am pleased to report that the Fayre raised a wonderful £12,000 for the charity which will be a great help to them in continuing their tremendous work.
