SqueezEast is an annual event, a Concertina Band Bonanza day, currently organised by our friends David and Elsie Nind and Paul and Sally Barrett. Over the years an increasing number of Kettle Bridge Concertinas have attended this day.

In June 2011 a large group made the journey north including Sandy, Pat, Chris, John, Fiona, Sally, MF-D, Tricia, Sue, Pom, Carol and Liz. This was going to be a special occasion for us. Over the years Paul and Sally had given Kettle Bridge Concertinas much support. As well as all the tuition they both had given us, Sally always had agreed to play with us at Kilve weekends whenever we needed an additional player and Paul had amended his arrangements to suit our needs. So it had been decided to make them honorary members and give them each one of our polo shirts. It had been decided that we would make the presentation of these to Paul and Sally on 12th June 2011. This we did during the first coffee break.

Altogether it was a good day for us all. We enjoyed playing in the band workshop, learned a lot from the guidance given by Paul and also performed The Ringwood Tree during the afternoon. It was well worth the long journey.

An article about SqueezEast was written by Martin Henshaw. This article was published in Concertina World, the magazine of the International Concertina Association, edition #449 2011.
