Report by Karen.

Adrian is a long-standing Kettle Bridge Concertinas member and is a very experienced concertina player. He is involved with Kits Coty Morris both as a dance teacher and a concertina player, and this year he ran workshops during Sidmouth Folk Festival on behalf of the West Country Concertina Players. So he was the perfect person to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday morning with fellow members of Kettle Bridge.

He had prepared a selection of tunes, accessible to all players whatever their ability. Many were light-hearted rounds where timing and teamwork were important factors. Titles included The Fishy Rubbish One Bottle Pop Fugue, Donkeys Always Love Their Carrots and the sweet and gentle Adieu Sweet Amaryllis.

We clearly needed a break after the rounds and in true Kettle Bridge Concertinas tradition, we enjoyed cake, coffee and chatter.

After the refueling, we were energised and ready to play some more challenging music, in parts, including Handel’s Aylesford Pieces, Minuet 1 & 2, and April is in my Mistress’ Face. We plan to continue to work on these tunes at our regular practices.

The band was most appreciative of Adrian’s patience, good humour and skill; it was a most enjoyable morning.
