Following an enjoyable workshop last year with local musician Ciara Considine, Kettle Bridge Concertinas was delighted to accept an invitation to join the Kent Community Orchestra in a concert as a guest ensemble. The event was a fundraiser for local charity Space 2 B Me and the proceeds will help them to continue to provide much needed support for families with disabled children.

Our programme consisted of six pieces, divided between the first and second halves of the concert. We had played some tunes such as Moon River and Trumpet Tune in public before, but Landacre Bridge and Calon Lan were premiered. We ended the concert by collaborating with the orchestra on Thaxted and The Bear Necessities. Our performances were recorded for posterity and you can click here to listen to our efforts.

I am pleased to report that the large audience was warm and enthusiastic and Ciara was most welcoming and inclusive.

Members of Kettle Bridge really enjoyed the challenge of this event and we are looking forward to another workshop with Ciara in the summer.
