A small but merry band of Kettle Bridge members made the trip to Stamford this year for SqueezEast, a band playing day led by Paul Barrett in the impressive surroundings of Stamford Arts Centre. There was a good attendance of nearly 40 players, with groups travelling from West Midlands, Norfolk, Kent and other far flung places. We played a variety of music from hymns to Happy Birthday Souza style, this piece leaving the treble ones reeling and the rest of the band laughing!
We were fortunate enough to be in Stamford at the same time as the Stamford Food & Drink Festival, so that was lunch sorted, sitting by the river in the sunshine.
During the day we were privileged to hear a rare and beautiful “Clarionette” in action – something that many of us had not heard before.
A great day, as usual, thank you SqueezEast Concertinas – always worth the journey!
