Report and photos by Steve C (mostly!).

Millbrook has garden centres at Staplehurst, Gravesend and Crowborough and they all held a festive charity fundraising event in support of the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance. Kettle Bridge were very pleased to be invited to play Christmas music to entertain the shoppers at the Staplehurst shop.

We arrived at the garden centre at 6:00pm to give us time to set up before the shop re-opened to the public at 6:30pm. The staff were busy setting up the Christmas-themed attractions and games, including hook-a-bauble, throw a snowball through the snowman's mouth and reindeer hoopla. Successful shoppers were given discounts on all their purchases.

Kettle Bridge were strategically placed in the centre of the shop so that they could be heard throughout the store and were provided with comfortable seating. We played our usual mixture of Christmas carols and other festive tunes to add to the yuletide atmosphere.

There was a steady flow of customers to enjoy the proceedings and they seemed to appreciate Kettle Bridge's performance. Meanwhile, the garden centre staff were working hard to make it a fun evening for everyone while raising money for an excellent cause.

Having reached a convenient point in our set, it was time for a short break in the café where the management had kindly provided a mince pie and mulled wine for everyone. Then it was back to work to resume the music until the shop closed at 8:30pm.

The whole evening was a great success with over £2,500 being raised across all three garden centres. Well done to everyone involved in supporting such a worthwhile charity and we were very happy to play our part.
