In years gone by, Kettle Bridge Concertinas has performed on several Sundays in the lead up to Christmas at Fremlin Walk in Maidstone. This year, we had just one busking session there on a Thursday evening from 4pm to 6pm.
The temperature was dropping even as the nine players and one collector congregated and everyone was wrapped up warm. We went through our standard repertoire of Christmas songs which went down well. We even did a request from the adjacent stallholder who wanted "Jingle Bells".
Last year, we were visited by a ten foot tall fairy and she turned up again this year, albeit without her wings. It was good to see her again. You could even say it was the high point of the evening!
Although there were not great crowds of people shopping, we did have a steady flow of people stopping to listen. They were obviously impressed as we collected a good sum of money for our efforts. This made braving the cold all worthwhile.
Well done to all the players and Merry Christmas to all those who donated so generously.
