Report by Sandy.

Ten Kettle Bridge members attended the Kilve residential weekend this October. We arrived at various times but unfortunately poor Liz got delayed at Stonehenge. On arrival we signed up for the workshops with most of us opting for the Intermediate Band or the ensemble groups.

Claire Wren’s band workshops were aimed at intermediate level, but we all enjoyed the lovely music we were treated to. For those of us with little formal musical training, she was a great teacher, helping us along on our particular musical journey. As well as Moon River, we tackled Bragtime (her arrangement), and The Bristol March (totally her work and winging its way to Kent).

The Ensemble group also had a great time and came up with some lovely tunes that will, no doubt, find their way into our repertoire. Dave, Val, Frances, Michael and Mary all showed that the next generation of KBC can shine and enjoy themselves as much as the rest of us!

At the Sunday concert, all the workshops produced remarkable offerings. It is astounding that these “late developers” can produce such lovely music!

Away from the music, the food, as usual, was overwhelming - it is not helpful if you are on a diet! Home-made croissants, gateaux, poached salmon, chicken curry, bhajis and poppadums ......each day you think “I’ll not eat so much”, only for Martin the Chef to undo all your good intentions.

As you can tell, it was an excellent weekend. The WCCP continues to inspire, instruct and encourage in its own inimitable way .......Well done!
